Unbreakable handmade guitar pick consists of three layers high performance torlon and peek plastic in two versions to choose from. The black version consists of two outer layers of peek and a core of torlon. The yellow version is two outer layers of torlon with a core of peek.Plectrums have holes drilled on both sides with an artistic pattern that significantly improves grip. A very comfortable, durable and good sounding gift for a guitarist.
Shape: Teardrop
Dimensions: Length: 37mm, Width: 27mm
Handcrafted (sawn, carved, shaped and polished) using only workshop power tools.
The plectrum is non-standard thickness for a reason. Namely, a large thickness minimizes movement, increases precision, strength and speed. Therefore playing the guitar requires less effort, which is a relief for the player. As a result, the player will have fewer muscle cramps and tensions, and more comfortable playing.
The PEEK-Torlon hybrid is a top design for professionals, combining:
- Indestructibility - thanks to the synergy of the two hardest polymers,
- Sound - precise high tones with deep midrange and stable bass,
- Control - ideal for technically demanding genres.
Application:
The plectrum will work well for guitarists playing extreme metal, jazz fusion or progressive rock, where both durability and articulation of each note count. This is a tool for perfectionists who do not accept compromises.
1. **Material properties:**
PEEK (polyetheretherketone):
- Engineering thermoplastic with exceptional stiffness, resistant to high temperature (up to 250°C), resistant to chemicals.
- Characterized by coefficient of friction and precise dynamic response, applied to fast, technical techniques.
- Influence on bright attack and intermediate transients in the sound.
Torlon (polyamide-imide, PAI):
- Ultra-strong polymer with even greater strength than PEEK (above 270°C) and available mechanical strength among thermoplastics.
- Combines stiffness with moderate vibration absorption, which reduces the "metallic" sharpness of the sound.
- Resistant to creep (deformation under load).
2. **Impact on sound:**
**Outer layers (PEEK)**:
- Give the sound crystal clarity and crisp highs, emphasizing precision in solos and fast passages.
- Maintain neutral tone with a slight boost in high frequencies.
**Core (Torlon)**:
- Dampens excessive high-frequency sharpness, adding subtle midrange and bass boost.
- By absorbing vibrations, it provides a more organic, subdued sound compared to homogeneous PEEK.
- Final effect: Rich, balanced sound with maintained detail and control over dynamics.
**Outer Layers (Torlon):**
- Dampens high-pitched sharpness, giving the sound a smooth, organic tone with an emphasized midrange and stable bass.
- Reduces the "glassy" aftertaste typical of hard materials by absorbing vibrations.
**Core (PEEK):**
- Add precise attack and clear transients, balancing between soft and hard characteristics.
- Enhances high-frequency detail without being overly sharp.
- Final result: Warm, balanced sound with retained detail - ideal for techniques that require both expression and control.
3. **Durability and comfort:**
- **Wear resistance:**
- The combination of PEEK and Torlon creates an indestructible system - resistant to abrasion, cracking and deformation even during extremely intense play.
- Peek protects the core from micro-cracks and protects the surface from scratches.
- Torlon on the outside creates an indestructible coating, protecting the PEEK core from abrasion and cracking.
- PEEK on the inside stabilizes the structure, preventing deformation even under extreme pressure.
- **Ergonomics:**
- The smooth surface of PEEK provides smooth glide on the strings, and the stiffness of Torlon eliminates unwanted bending of the plectrum.
- Minimal vibrations transferred to the hand thanks to partial vibration absorption by Torlon - comfort during long sessions.
- Torlon's smooth surface provides natural glide, and the rigidity of the entire system eliminates uncontrolled plectrum bending.
4. **Playability:**
- **Precision vs. Flexibility:**
- The dominant stiffness of both materials makes the plectrum ideal for techniques that require control (e.g. shredding, tapping).
- The lack of flexibility requires a precise grip, but guarantees consistent string response and zero energy loss during striking.
- **Sliding and dynamics:**
- Low friction PEEK allows for lightning-fast sliding across the strings, which is crucial for techniques such as sweep picking or fast arpeggios.
- Torlon stabilizes the movement, reducing "accidental" noises.
