Beautiful handmade 7mm thick guitar pick made of peek and ultem, high quality plastic with holes on both sides.

This model comes in two versions: Blk Peek/Ultem & White Peek/Ultem. Combining two pieces of material gave me the opportunity to obtain holes in two colors without painting them or other additional treatments.
The holes on the peek side in both variants are the same orange color. On the other side, they are white or black depending on the version. The artistic pattern of holes gives the plectrum a unique look and improves the grip.

Shape: Tear
Dimensions: Length: 36, Width: 27mm, Thickness: 6mm or 7mm

Handcrafted pick (sawn, carved, shaped and polished) using only workshop power tools.

The Ultem-PEEK hybrid is an elite tool for virtuosos that:
- Combines the indestructibility of two of the hardest polymers,
- Offers a unique sound - precise highs with organic warmth and depth,
- Is designed for players who do not accept compromises between durability and articulation.

**Application:**
- Progressive metal, jazz fusion, neoclassical shred - where control over every detail of the sound counts,
- Long studio sessions - thanks to vibration reduction and ergonomics.

This is a plectrum for perfectionists who see the game as a combination of science and art - where the tool must be as exceptional as the music.

**1. Material properties:**

**Ultem (PEI – Polyetherimide):**
- High-strength thermoplastic with excellent thermal (up to 170–210°C), chemical and mechanical resistance.
- Characterized by moderate stiffness, good vibration absorption and warmer sound color compared to PEEK.

**PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone):**
- Engineering thermoplastic with extreme stiffness, abrasion and temperature resistance (up to 250°C).
- Provides crystal clear attack and neutral, precise sound with emphasized highs.

**2. Effects on sound:**

**Ultem layer:**
- Dampens the metallic sharpness of PEEK, introducing warmth in the midrange and depth of the bass**.
- By absorbing vibrations, the sound becomes more organic and subdued, with less of a "glassy" aftertaste.

**PEEK layer:**
- Gives the sound clear transients and bright highs, typical of technical techniques (e.g. shredding, tapping).
- Stabilizes dynamics, eliminating "smearing" of sound during fast passages.

**Final effect:** Balanced sound - a combination of PEEK precision with Ultem warmth, ideal for genres requiring both technical control and expression.

**3. Durability and comfort:**

**Wear resistance:**
- Both materials are indestructible - resistance to abrasion, cracking and deformation means that the plectrum will survive years of intensive play.
- Ultem protects against micro-cracks, and PEEK protects the edges from dulling.

**Ergonomics:**
- The smooth surface of both materials provides a smooth glide over the strings, but may require texturing for a better grip.
- The stiffness of PEEK is balanced by the flexibility of Ultem, reducing hand fatigue.

**4. Playability:**

**Stiffness vs. Control:**
- The stiffness of PEEK supports precision lead techniques, while Ultem adds minimal flex, facilitating smooth transitions between chords.

**Slide and Dynamics:**
- The low friction of both materials supports fast arpeggios and sweep picking, while the stability of the construction eliminates unwanted buzz.

The plectrum is non-standard thickness for a reason. Namely, a large thickness minimizes movement, increases precision, strength and speed. Therefore playing the guitar requires less effort, which is a relief for the player. As a result, the player will have fewer muscle cramps and tensions, and more comfortable playing.

If you haven't found in my offer the plectrum you are looking for and you need a guitar pick of an unusual shape, size and thickness, don't hesitate to ask. I am open to custom orders :)

Thank you for stepping by.
